New Location Parsan, Turkey

Parsan, previously based in the city area of Istanbul, produces numerous products for the automotive industry, such as axle shafts, front axles, axle bridges, steering knuckles and various gear blanks. The production ranges from forging, hammering and pressing and hardening techniques down to mechanical processing and surface treatment of parts weighing up to 400 kg.

For the expanding company, aib - together with GEPRO GmbH, Aachen - developed a plant layout on a new site of approx. 20 hectares outside Istanbul.

Plant Structure with Value Stream Design

The greenfield site permits the different production areas to be laid out in ideal form in the sense of a value stream design. The challenge, though, was to adapt the arrangement of the building and the utilities to the topographical conditions with a height difference of over 10 metres. The heavy forging systems, on the one hand, had to be based on mature ground, and on the other hand the entire area had to remain accessible by forklift trucks. aib developed various terracing models and investigated them in terms of material flow and investment costs.

Developing Corporate Architecture

aib developed a new Corporate Architecture for Parsan as well. It expresses the impressive process chain and the key support functions, such as quality control and administration. From incandescent steel block to gleaming, polished finished product, the process chain is made tangible via the material and form language of the building.
